Good for the body……and the mind?

We all know that exercise is good for the body.  But, did you know, that it is also good for the mind?  Research has shown that including “multi-mode cardio training” (4 different types of cardio activities) each week, can reduce our chances of developing age-related dementia.  Why?  Well it seems that each time we move our bodies through different patterns of movement, it challenges our brain differently each time.  Our brains are in many ways like our muscles-if we don’t use it we lose it and when we challenge it, we improve function! 

It doesn’t have to be a long time spent on each piece of machinery.  Try the treadmill, bike, rower and elliptical for 10 or 15 mins. each throughout the week to achieve this effect.

So, in case you needed yet ANOTHER reason to exercise, there it is!
