Of course you know that exercising burns calories. BUT did you know that up to an hour after we are done, our body still continues to burn calories (i.e. “EPOC”). How cool is that?!?!
It sounds too good to be true, but it has been researched, re-researched and proven. Basically what happens when you are working out, is that you have put all of your cells (that are very organized) in a “blender” and mixed them up. When exercise is complete, your body has to work to put them back where they belong. What fuels this re-organization? Body fat!! So even when you are in the shower after your workout, you are still burning calories. And did you know that this happens with cardio exercise AND when you strength train??
Think about this-if you burned approximately 300 calories while you are working out, multiply that by 0.15. This gives you 45. So that means that you have burned an additional 45 calories after you finish.
So, in case you needed another reason to workout…there it is!!
