Omega 3 is a fatty acid. It is used to help our bodies work normally.
It can be found in various foods, but the main source is fish oil. Flax and Algae oil are good sources of Omega 3 as well.
Our bodies don’t make Omega 3 on its own, we need external assistance from the foods we eat. Studies show that Omega 3 helps our brain function and that it helps with inflammation. Studies also show that Omega 3 helps in the production of HDL’s (good cholesterol) and it can help improve your heart health.

Here’s a great fish recipe that can help you get your Omega 3 without supplements:
Grilled Salmon with Ginger-Honey Glaze
- 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce, reduced sodium
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 1/4 pounds fish, salmon filet
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger, ground, or 1 tablespoon bottled minced ginger
Preheat the grill on high heat. Combine the teriyaki sauce and honey and pour evenly over the salmon. Spread the ginger over the top. Let sit for 5-10 minutes while the grill is heating.
Place the salmon, skin side up, on the grill and cook 5 minutes over high heat. Turn gently, reduce heat to medium, and grill until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork, 7-10 minutes. Remove the skin and serve.
