Sweet ’16 Challenge – Week 1 Recipe Idea!

Makes: about 10 servings or 30 energy balls

Serving Size: 3 energy balls


1 cup (250 mL) raw whole almonds

1 cup (250 mL) whole hazelnuts or other nut

1 cup (250 mL) pitted Medjool dates (about 12)

1 cup (250 mL) golden raisins

2 tbsp (30 mL) pure maple syrup

1 tsp (5 mL) ground cinnamon


  1. In the bowl of a food processor, pulse together almonds and hazelnuts until they are finely ground.
  2. Add dates, raisins, maple syrup and cinnamon; pulse until thick sticky dough forms.
  3. Using a tbsp (15 mL) roll mixture into balls and place on parchment paper lined baking sheet.
  4. Place in the refrigerator for about 1 hour or until they are chilled
